A little bit of Madrid, right here in Washington. Just coming back from a design trip through Spain and Italy, I found myself completely drawn to the patterned tiles in Madrid—and this space feels like a little reflection of that inspiration.

Bold patterned floors, blush scalloped tile, natural light, and tree views through a transom window… all layered to create a bathroom that feels like an escape.

This tile was the starting point for everything. Once we landed on that bold geometric pattern, every other decision, the slatted wood cabinetry, the brass accents, the shower niche detail, had to live up to it. The goal was one continuous visual rhythm from floor to wall to shower, and I think it turned out beautifully!

Same love for natural light, just a few thousand miles south, This small condo in Brazil had zero room for anything that wasn't intentional—and that constraint made the design better. Small spaces are some of my favorite problems to solve.

A little fun detail: the sculpture behind the plants was inspired by the work of Tarsila do Amaral—a quiet little nod to Brazilian art tucked into the space.
