This photo was taken on May 11th and reminds me of something I’ve been thinking about lately.

For years, Ken has shown up early, worked hard, built relationships with our customers, and been someone our family and team could count on.

What I’ll remember most aren’t the miles driven or the jobs completed. It’s the countless conversations after a long day, the stories shared in the truck, the advice given along the way, and the way he always seemed willing to jump in wherever he was needed.

Whether it was hauling equipment, bringing in material, helping on a project, teaching the next generation, or taking the time to connect with a customer, Ken has always led by example.

Sometimes the people who have the biggest impact aren’t the loudest people in the room. They’re the ones who quietly show up day after day and do what needs to be done.

Today, we’re grateful for fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and hardworking people like Ken who have helped shape our family, our team, and our community.

Happy Father’s Day from our family to yours. 👊

What started as a concrete driveway removal and asphalt replacement quickly turned into something more.

Once demolition began, our crew discovered the concrete had been poured directly on dirt with no gravel base underneath.

That changed the plan.

Instead of paving over a failing foundation, we met with the homeowner, explained what we found, and adjusted the project to rebuild the subgrade properly before moving forward.

This is why every project starts with understanding what’s underneath.

Most people don’t want another project to manage. They want clarity and a project that moves forward.

Most people call us for one thing. Our job is to help them see the whole picture.

This project started with a driveway.

After walking the property and talking through how the homeowners wanted to use the space, we expanded the scope to improve the landscape, coordinate hydroseeding, and create a more functional property overall.

Most people don’t want another project to manage. They want clarity and a project that moves forward.

Most people call us for one thing. Our job is to help them see the whole picture.

Our value isn’t in the dirt work. Our value is helping property owners navigate complicated problems and create long-term solutions.

💧 Water tells the truth.

One of the most overlooked parts of construction is proper grading.

When a site isn't graded correctly, water can pool around foundations, erode driveways, damage landscaping, and create costly problems for years to come.

Good grading isn't just about making the ground look level—it's about controlling water, improving drainage, and protecting your investment.

Before you build, make sure your site is prepared properly.

Another happy customer and another project wrapped up. 👊

One thing that stood out to us today was hearing how much research these homeowners did before making their decision.

They checked reviews.
They checked references.
They looked at the Better Business Bureau.
They talked to multiple contractors.

In the end, they chose Ritter because they wanted a team they could trust to help move the project forward and get it done right.

We’re grateful for every customer who puts their trust in us, and we’re proud of the work our crew put into this project.

Thank you for choosing Ritter Dirt & Asphalt.

🌲 The Deming Logging Show Has Always Meant More to Me Than Just an Event 🌲

When I was 8 years old, I lost my dad in a logging accident.

It's hard to put into words how much that loss shaped my life. Growing up, I watched my family lean on one another and on the strength of this community. Through the years, I've carried with me a deep respect for the men and women who work in the woods and for the families who support them.

Logging isn't just part of our local history—it's part of my family's story.

My dad, my uncles, my grandfathers, and my great-grandfathers all made their living in the logging industry. Their hard work put food on the table, built our community, and taught me the values that continue to guide our family today.

Those same values—hard work, integrity, resilience, and looking out for one another—are at the heart of Ritter Dirt & Asphalt.

That's why supporting the Deming Logging Show is so important to me.

As we get ready for this year's show this weekend on June 13th and 14th, I hope you'll join us in celebrating the people, families, and traditions that helped build our community.

Thank you to everyone who helps keep these traditions alive.

❤️ Alysha

Most property owners don’t want another project to manage.

They want clarity.
They want a plan.
They want someone who can help move things forward.

Whether it’s paving, drainage, grading, excavation, or site work, our goal is simple:

Make the process easier and help you make the right decision for your property.

Not sure where to start?

That’s why most people call us.

Funny moment today.

I stopped by the City of Bellingham to get a permit moving for an upcoming project and ran into Craig, whose daughter went to school with ours.

While we were catching up, he said something that stuck with me:

“I watch your videos, and you’re talking about the right things.”

Specifically, the details underneath that most people never see.

The base rock.
The drainage.
The grading.
The preparation.

The truth is, the finished product gets all the attention, but what determines whether a project lasts is usually underneath the surface.

It was a good reminder that you never know who’s watching, listening, or learning from what you share.

And it reinforced something we believe at Ritter:

Do the little things right, and the big things tend to take care of themselves. 👊

Most people see a road.

A grader operator sees elevations, drainage, material movement, water flow, and thousands of small adjustments.

Jason has always told me that grading is done by touch and sight. It’s a skill that’s becoming harder and harder to find, and there are very few people who can truly run a grader well.

This week we had two experienced grader operators working side-by-side to finish this roadway project and keep the customer on schedule.

Most people only see the finished surface.

What happens underneath determines how long it lasts.

If you’re planning a driveway, roadway, drainage project, or site work and aren’t sure where to start, send us a message.

You don’t have to know construction. That’s our job. 👊

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you for the kind words!

There is nothing better than earning the trust of customers who continue to call us back year after year. When this customer first reached out about their long gravel driveway four years ago, we were happy to help—and we're honored that we've been invited back multiple times since.

At Ritter Dirt & Asphalt, we believe the difference is in doing the job right. From having the right equipment and experienced operators to taking the time to understand each property's unique needs, our goal is always to deliver results that last.

Thank you for trusting Jason, Alysha, and the entire Ritter team with your driveway projects. We truly appreciate your support and the opportunity to serve our community.

Need help with a gravel driveway, grading, drainage, excavation, or asphalt project? Give us a call. We'd love to show you the Ritter difference.
