A profound momentā¦
Five years ago, I stood in my kitchen in Hawaii making waffles for my children, covered in the warm banana sauce they loved, with fresh kiwi carefully placed on their plates. My children sat nearby, talking, playing, and doing homework while I quietly sang You Are the Reason as I cooked.
At that time, my voice had been silenced by an abusive relationship. I was often discouraged from singing, even though music had always lived inside me. Yet I continued to sing softly while caring for my family, pouring love into the meals I made, the home I created, and the children I cherished.
Today, that same voiceā¦once suppressedā¦was trained in professionally in South Korea and has now been recognized on an international stage.
Life, faith, and resilience have brought me full circle: from singing in a kitchen while making breakfast for my children, a way that I showed love to them was cooking and singing and now to receiving news that my debut music video, The Fire I Am, has been nominated in multiple categories at ZeppFest International Music and Film Festival.
This morning, that old memory appeared unexpectedly. Hours later, I received the news of these nominations. The timing was so profound that it brought me to tears.
After everything I have enduredā¦the pain, the loss, the obstacles, and the sufferingā¦Now God has taken the very gift that others tried to silence and used it to create a path forward, a source of protection, healing, and purpose. Not just for me but to help other heal through my music.
Let this be a testament: never allow anyone to take your voice. Your voice is your gift. Your voice is your power. Your voice may very well become the thing that sets you free.
Tonight, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and finally ready to move forward. Nothing can stop me I am going all the way up.
