🎉Joyride Day 2026🎉 In an effort to eliminate food dyes and reduce our sugar intake, our family has become HUGE fans of JOYRIDE candy products. No dyes, drastically reduced sugar and nothing funky. We even packed some with us on a recent trip to Disneyland. Come on Disney, these would be GREAT products to carry in your parks! Today is JOYRIDE Day 2026 and we are joining the celebration!!

🫐U-Pick Blueberries🫐 Sacramento area friends, LoCA Blueberry Farm is a u-pick blueberry farm just south of Sacramento in Lodi, CA. They are open from the end of May for about 3-4 weeks. Pick to your heart’s content for $5/lb. You can bring your bucket or they will provide one. The MOST delicious blueberries picked at the peak of freshness/ripeness you’ll find! Open Thursday-Sunday, 8AM-1PM. Go early to beat the heat! Not sure how much longer the season will be so go check them out! The bushes and heavy laden with fruit! Fun for the whole family🫐

💜Chive Blossom Butter💜 A continuation of my love of all things chive blossoms🥰 Spread softened butter out onto a piece of parchment paper, sprinkle on some lemon zest, diced chives, chive blossom petals(washed and dried) and some flakey sea salt. Form butter into a log and refrigerate until ready to use. The brightest, herby, mild oniony butter for a yummy savory pop so all kinds of dishes! Extra bonus of you add some chive blossom salt on top after spreading the butter. Yummm!!!

💜Lavender Simple Syrup💜 After a fun visit to , I made some yummy lavender simple syrup. Here’s the recipe: take 1C cane sugar, 1C water and 4TB dried, culinary lavender buds (adjustable if you want a lighter flavor). Bring to a boil, remove from heat and let steep for an hour. Strain lavender buds out and that’s it! Store in a jar in the fridge for several weeks or more. Use in a your favorite lemonade, tea, latte, cocktail or mocktail! What would you make with it??

🧅Bolted Onions?🧅 If you’ve ever had your onions bolt/flower, those onions won’t cure/store properly, but there are still good to use. Here’s some of the ways that I use bolted onions:
1. Fresh! They are perfectly good to use fresh in all your recipes!
2. Pickled! Thinly slice the onions, fill a jar and add your favorite vinaigrette. Pickled onions last 2-3 weeks in the fridge.
3. Stock! Freeze the stalks or bulbs for use in making your favorite stocks!
4. Onion Powder! Thinly slice the onion bulbs (removing skins and anything funky!) and place the slices on the tray of your dehydrator (or on baking trays in your oven on low) and dry until crispy. Process in your blender until you’ve reached the consistency you like. Store in jar and use to elevate the flavor of your dishes all year long!

🍓What to do with strawberry tops🍓 It’s strawberry season once again! Time to hit up your local farmstand (or garden!) and stock ip! But once you’ve processed them, what do you do with the tops? Don’t throw them out! Here are 4 zero waste ways to put those tops to use:
1: Infused water! Add the fresh tops with some mint and make the most refreshing infused water!
2. Freeze them! Use them like ice cubes in your favorite iced tea or lemonade!
3. Vinegar! Add the tops to a clean jar and cover with your favorite vinegar (white or balsamic are both delicious!). Place covered jar in the fridge for several weeks for maximum flavor. Strain the tops for the most flavorful vinegar. Best stored in the fridge.
4. Dehydrated them! Place the tops on your dehydrator trays or on cookies sheets in your oven on low and dehydrate until crispy! They will smell like fruit roll-ups🥰 Store in a jar and use in tea or infused water all year long!

💜Chive Blossom Vinegar💜 Chive blossoms may be my favorite part about growing chives, and I love chives! They are this perfect, mild oniony pop of flavor. Simply grow the chives, pluck the blossoms, rinse, infuse in a quality vinegar (I like white wine vinegar) for a week or up to 2, strain for the prettiest hot pink and flavorful vinegar!! Store in the fridge. It makes the BEST vinaigrette for your salad! Bonus- save some extra chive blossoms to sprinkle on top of that salad to throw it all over the top for flavor!

Here’s my favorite method of growing loads of sweet potatoes each summer! Bonus- I like to amend my containers/beds with good compost and worm castings as well as a good scoop of bone meal and watered in mycorrhizae for good root development!
