🌸💕 AFTER THE WINTER WE HAD, THESE BLOOMS FEEL EXTRA SPECIAL. 💕🌸

This past winter was a cold one, and every spring we wait to see how our overwintered trees and shrubs come through.

We’re excited to say they’re looking fantastic!

Our Double Flowering Plums, also known as the Rose Tree of China, are covered in buds and just beginning to bloom. Soon they’ll be loaded with gorgeous double pink flowers that stop people in their tracks. 🌸

But they’re not the only survivors putting on a show.

We also have overwintered:

There’s something reassuring about plants that have already spent a Fairbanks winter outside. They’ve been tested by the cold and are waking up ready for another growing season.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day at The Plant Kingdom 🇺🇸

Today is about remembrance.

Remembering the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country.
Remembering the families who carry that loss.
Remembering the freedoms we often move through quickly in everyday life because someone else paid the price for them.

And while Memorial Day can hold heaviness, it also reminds us to appreciate the simple things:
Time together.
Sunshine after a long winter.
Kids running through the yard.
A quiet morning coffee.
Planting flowers.
Starting a garden.
Being present.

The greenhouse is overflowing with color right now, and honestly… it feels good.
After another long Alaska winter, seeing life everywhere again never gets old. 🌸🌿

Spring might be taking its sweet time this year… but the plants are ready 🌱☀️

Yes, it’s been a cooler spring than usual, but we still have a huge selection of hardened-off starts ready to go home with you. That means they’ve been acclimated to the outdoors and are tougher, stronger, and ready to handle our Alaska spring conditions.

What a week it’s been at PK 🌿✨

Last week the greenhouse was full in the best kind of way.

We welcomed class field trips with some truly wonderful groups of kiddos, hosted houseplant and cedar box planting classes, created veggie bowls with customers, and spent part of the weekend out at the Maibock Market at HooDoo Brewing Company.

There’s something really special about seeing so many people come through the greenhouse for different reasons. Some are learning how to grow their first plants, some are creating containers for their homes, and some are simply stopping in to enjoy the warmth and beauty of the season.

Weeks like this remind us why we love what we do so much.

And we’re keeping the momentum going 🌱
