There’s no shame in hiking the climbs. I used to think I needed to run every uphill, but I realized I was using a ton of energy for very little gain. Now I power hike the steeper climbs and save my legs for the flats and downhills.
Even elite trail runners hike when it makes sense, so if you find yourself hiking a climb, don’t beat yourself up about it. Sometimes the smartest way to move faster is to slow down for a little while.
