This transformation reimagined the way this home lives and flows by removing a dividing wall and opening the kitchen into the informal living space. The result is a seamless, connected layout designed for gathering, entertaining, and everyday living with ease. Natural maple frameless cabinetry, a marble countertop island, and a dedicated home office nook bring together mid-century warmth with art deco-inspired refinement.

To create continuity throughout the home, we carried the same elevated design language into the basement with a custom wet bar, tying both levels together into one cohesive experience. Every detail was intentionally selected to balance function, style, and sophistication, turning a compartmentalized layout into a modern, design-forward home.

Small galley kitchens require intentional design—every decision has to work harder ✨

In this space, we focused on maximizing storage without overwhelming the layout.

✔ Floating shelves above the sink add visual interest while keeping everyday items within reach
✔ A workstation sink transforms the sink area into a prep zone with built-in accessories creating extra counter space without adding square footage
✔ A hidden pull-out trash system keeps the kitchen streamlined while freeing up valuable under-sink storage

At the range, deeper cabinetry and roll-out trays ensure spices, cookware, and smaller items are easy to access no wasted space.

By extending cabinetry into the dining room, we created:
• Overflow pantry storage
• Deep drawers for pots and pans
• A beverage fridge to free up the main refrigerator
• A secondary prep zone with microwave
• A coffee bar and buffet landing space that serves both rooms

The result?
A small galley kitchen that feels larger, functions better, and flows seamlessly into the dining space.

We designed this rear addition to become the heart of the home, centered around a custom fireplace and warm gathering space made for everything from quiet evenings to full-family weekends. Hidden behind the beauty is smart function, integrated storage for toys and everyday living, plus a discreet mudroom entry that keeps life organized without interrupting the design.
