Ganim’s Garden Center has been in my hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut since 1969, but the Ganim family opened with a simple fruit stand 88 years ago. During a recent visit to my hometown, Mr. Lee Ganim took time out of his busy day to speak with me. I told him that I was a big fan of his radio show “That Garden Guy” on Sunday’s and that I learn a lot each weekend. It’s on a local AM station (WICC) but I can get it on my cell phone in Charleston, SC. He’ll tell most callers that they are overwatering, but I decided to shower him with praise today because he gives the best advice. He told me to trim back my Crepe Myrtle tree 1/3rd before the spring and it’s been blooming beautifully each year for over 10 years. I invited him to visit Charleston and offered him a tour of our city. Of course, I’ll bring him to my house to take a quick peek at my plants. Thank you for the shirt!
