Some works ask a room to make space for them. Prism Matrix simply arrives, and the room rearranges itself.
Wednesdays are when we show JeanElton pieces where they live — in the settings that suit them.
Vermillion beside cobalt, chartreuse against ochre, each band stitched with its own small rhythm: zigzag, dot, chevron. Within, a matte black hollow, silent as the interior of a shell. A SailVase, where the rim lifts and leans as though caught mid-crossing.
Place it on walnut in a private library. On limestone beneath a vaulted cellar. On brass in a grand hotel. It never once defers.
Signed beneath, with its Certificate of Authenticity.
And it now stands at the front of our new online gallery — one hundred seventy-five works, every one of them made to do what this one does: enter a room and change it.
The web address goes to our mailing list first, the week beginning September 13. Everyone else, the week beginning September 20. No more than one note a month, and four times a year a curated collection you can page through.
