Men and women dressed proper, and showing that they have some self respect and pride. They're not running around in pajamas like people do nowadays. I might run to Walmart in my sweats if it's late enough, but I typically won't leave the house unless I'm dressed if I know I've gotta get out of the truck. I'll sometimes drop a kid at school, or camp, etc., in sweats, but only if I'm just dropping them. Somewhere along the way people stopped caring, and having any pride in their appearance. I was taught that it wasn't about vanity or impressing others, it was about your self pride, the way you felt about yourself, and was a reflection of how you carried yourself and conducted day to day business. "Dress for success" is the way it was presented to me, and although as a builder I'm wearing ragged, stained clothes, and I myself match what I'm wearing most of the time, in my off time I still "dress for success" as my grandpa who's now 90 always told me to.

So life's happened again, go figure, and it has slowed me down and kept me tied up. I haven't done much, so I don't have much to show. I am however trying to get back in the swing of things, and get back going like I was a few months ago before everything went sideways. I did some odds & ends for my buddy Michael Miller and my old lead from way back when Scott Lynch was/is doing a bathroom in Hollins that I did the tile in the shower for. Other than that things have been slow due to the personal life issues. Spring is here now and I'm looking forward to jumping back into my work head first, so if you've got a home improvement/remodeling project you've been putting off or a spur of the moment project you want to get knocked out I'm happy to provide an estimate. "Tire kickers" are also welcome to set up for an estimate to get an idea of what it'd take to get any particular project taken care of. Despite life's recent struggles and the struggle to keep going sometimes, I'm still Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude.

So I made this post the other day, but apparently it didn't finish loading. It's been a very trying couple of weeks, so things have been slow and unproductive. Here's a couple things I've been up to though. First is a closet in a home office for more storage. It was a simple wall, pocket door, and shelf with a rod. Then we swapped out an old beat up exterior door for a new one. Whoever installed this door ( I know the company and it's on par with what they do, but I won't name them) didn't bother installing a header over the door and to make matters worse it's a load bearing wall. The lack of a header was the main culprit for the poor functionality of the door and constant shifting that would at times prevent it from latching. We got a header in and the new door installed correctly. I'll hopefully have some more picture worthy work to post soon. Not pictured is a plumbing repair I also took care of. Another one of my longtime customers had not 1 but 2 Sharkbites fail simultaneously flooding their master bath. So I got those out and replaced as well. Even though life has been fighting back recently, and things have not gone as expected I'm still very grateful for my help and my customers who continue to call on us for all of their home improvement/repair needs. Spring is here and there's no better time to "kick the tires" on that long wanted and overdue home improvement project, so contact us to schedule a free estimate. As always I'm Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude.

So I was going to wait and post a several of our small jobs together, but nothing has been "picture worthy" other than these two. I'll have some more pics of another small project coming soon, then we should be back into some bigger stuff. The first project request was from a customer, fantastic guy, who had his dock destroyed by Helene. He asked us to bury 8ft railroad ties 5ft deep against the bank with a logging chain run through them buried 4ft deep and run 6ft back with over 200lbs of combined concrete around the railroad ties and logging chain. We spaced them 6ft apart. He had a custom "gangway" built that he will then tie into these railroad ties. His hope is that this will be stronger than his previous posts, but also give him a way to disassemble his floating dock so he can float it to safety in the event of another storm like Helene. It was a fun little project and my helper Michael, who I've really thrown to the fire with an overload of different trades since he's started with me, was exactly the kind of help you want on a project like this. Even though it was small, nothing about it was really easy due to the weight and size of the ties plus concrete, and some shovel work. The second was a couple wrought iron handrails and a bathroom grab bar for another customer who was referred to me by one of my best customers who as been with us for many years now. I'm truly blessed to be able to do jobs like this for a living. God has been better to me than I deserve. So Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude we go. Big Or Small We Do It All, so reach out for a free estimate for all your home improvement/repair needs.

So we've wrapped up this bathroom for another fantastic customers of mine. This is the 3rd bathroom I've done in this house for this customer, and all 3 were basically identical with a few changes here & there. This particular customer has been with us from day one almost, I believe they were my second customer after starting this venture of mine. This customer has had us do 3 bathrooms, one of which started as a concrete room (even had a concrete ceiling), we've installed a 5ft×9ft picture window on the front, new roof, new gutters, new exterior paint, new deck, new garage door, and several other smaller projects over the last 5-6yrs. Customers like this one and my helpers (past & present) are the backbone of this venture of mine, and I could not be more grateful for their support/help. Spring is coming and now is a great time to schedule an estimate and at least "kick the tires" on that long wanted/overdue home improvement project. Big Or Small We Do It All. So give us a call, text, messenger, email, whatever is easiest to get that estimate scheduled. God is good and as as always we're Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude.

So I just posted my update for the week but I wanted to post this as well. This is by far one of the coolest things I have ever done and this was way back at the beginning of COVID in early '20. I created a bathroom in a basement room that had 4 concrete walls, concrete floor, and concrete ceiling. A macerating toilet wouldn't cut it considering it was to be a full bath with shower and vanity, so I was stuck trying to figure out what to do. So low & behold I found this awesome "grinder pump" from Liberty pumps. It's got something similar to a standard sump pump inside the 42 gallon "holding tank" but the impeller blades are actual blades that slice & dice anything going through it with a full on alarm system in the event of a failure of any sort. It said it turned any and all waste into a "slurry". It was an amazing solution to a problem I needed to solve. With the help of my amazing late father-in-law we got this thing installed and operational. It was a fun project that created fond memories of working with my father-in-law who I miss dearly and as much as my own dad. Just wanted to share this as a reminder that any problem can be solved you just have to be determined enough to find the solution. As always Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude ❤️. PS: I built a closet just outside the bathroom I created which is where this pump is, gravity brings the waste from the bathroom to it and then it does the rest.

So it's the end of the week and instead of waiting until tonight/tomorrow to post an update I'm getting on with it now. We've gotten everything back together and are now laying tile in the shower. We should be wrapping up and moving on before too long. I want to thank my helper Michael for showing up, being dependable, and making due even when I'm late. He's learning while giving it 100% everyday and that's all I can ask for. Since my last long-term helper left several years ago now I struggled to find a solid, dependable helper. I had my good friend Michael Miller for a couple years, but he's a skill guy who was relegated to helper status 90% of the time which always bothered me. So having a good, solid, dependable helper who's willing to learn is nice to have again. We're booking work for spring & summer now, so if you're curious what it'll take to get that long wanted and overdue home improvement done give me a call, send a text, email, messenger, whatever is easiest to schedule a free estimate. Unlike most, I welcome "tire kickers" because you never know when a "tire kicker" is gonna turn into a serious buyer. As always Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude ❤️

Haven't posted in a while again, so here's what we've been up to. We repaired a roof that was damaged in the first round of snow/ice. Then we moved on to a floor replacement and bathroom remodel. Making good progress of the bathroom. We'll be covering the walls (both in and out of the shower) and hopefully start laying tile tomorrow. Tyler Montgomery is now at the Commonwealth ChalleNGe, but he helped us get going, and my helper Michael has been a huge part of this as he has been on the last several projects. As always I want to thank my help, and my customers for their continued support and trust. I love what I do and hope to continue for years to come. Spring is coming and there's no better time to schedule a free estimate for that long wanted & overdue home improvement or maybe its just a repair you've been putting off, either way we're here to help. Call, text, email, msg here, whatever is easiest to get one scheduled. Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude.

As a small business owner myself I completely understand where Tyler is coming from. I get the same thing too sometimes. It's not as easy to keep the wheels of a small business spinning as many would think. Tyler has been my go to for a while now, and as long as we're both in business that won't change. Onwards & Upwards with a heart full of gratitude.
