I was lucky to get a glimpse of gustthepoodle new work at Berkshire Botanical Garden last weekend. Marian is an old friend of 100 Main (we have a few of her early pieces!) and it’s a joy to witness the development of her work. Go see this wonderful exhibit before ends on October 30!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to officially launch Pete Hathaway at 100 Main. We had a fabulous evening celebrating with you all among the “new” pieces scattered throughout the shop. It’s the most fun little scavenger hunt. As we’re going through these photos and videos, we’re also getting ready for the delivery of the second tranche of Pete’s collection in the shop. Yes, you loved it all so much that we’re already ready for more… Stay tuned for exact arrival dates but we’re open as always Friday through Sunday 11-4 and everything can be found online.

August is almost behind us and we hope you are enjoying the last stretch of summer.

We have some fun new items at the store. We now offer Widener Company’s handmade baskets from Maine and table linens by Soil to Studio—designed in Brooklyn and hand block printed in India. Le Sac Sulpice’s (based in Fairfield, CT) new bags are also in, and they are as colorful as they are durable. Simply fabulous.

For those of you who have yet to check out Pete Hathaway’s one-of-a-kinds, be sure to come in. A lot of the inventory has already sold, but a little bird told me more will be delivered this Friday! We are so lucky to offer this wonderful collection, hand-picked by Bunny, of Pete’s unique pieces (like those gorgeous Majolica plates)!

Kinda chic to support local and carry recycled materials. Le Sac Sulpice is a CT-based brand grounded in the unbothered sensibility of New England with its head in the clouds of the Mediterranean 🥲 Made from recycled nylon, these striped totes and pouches in the most striking colorways are as durable as they are chic. Timeless both in design and ex*****on, we can’t help but collect them all. Pictured are the colorways we currently have in stock, but we can order any and all. Which one is your favorite?

Join us as Bunny Williams spies a few more of her in-shop favorites to share with you all… These are pieces she has in her own home on her shelves and a table she’s had custom re-made for a banquette in a recent design project. Watch how the light catches the incredible architectural pedestal base of this solid walnut dining table, handcrafted right here in Connecticut by master furniture maker James Schriber.

And sitting right atop is a collection of local handblown glassware available in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes by Tom Stoener - a favorite of all of us (his gold leaf ch*****ne flutes + w**e glasses are born to be heirlooms).

Next to them is a series of white vases inspired by aran cable knit sweaters and cake stands stunning enough to hold a permanent counter spot, even without your favorite dessert — handcrafted by Sheila Fox Pottery . Many of you are familiar with Pete’s famous taste in collectible antiques, and we couldn’t be more excited to offer his one-of-a-kind pieces for sale at 100 Main. After his lustrous career, including 20 years at Sotheby’s as the 18th-century furniture specialist, Pete transformed a historic early 19th-century Greek Revival mansion in Salisbury into Ragamont House Antiques in the early 2000s. Still “collecting-obsessed,” we are lucky to offer a wonderful selection, hand-picked by Bunny, of his unique pieces at the store. Please join us in officially launching this collection next Friday August 14th from 4-6p at 100 Main in Falls Village. No RSVP necessary, but please share if you know you plan to attend.

We were deeply saddened to learn about the recent passing of Frank Grusauskus Frank Grusauskas - Frank was a staple woodworker at 100 Main, one of the first artisans to form part of the local artisan community within our walls around 2019. Earlier this year we featured some of Frank’s work in a video series we did with Bunny - where she hand selected pieces she loved from the store to showcase - aptly named “Bunny’s Eye.” In it, she spoke of Frank’s work as functional yet sculptural with a museum-worthy / quality aesthetic. (She spoke specifically of the large bowl on the left, carved from the first twin oak to fall in Sharon CT - a hollow beehive forms part of the structure. A piece of Sharon history!)

A couple of month’s ago, he dropped by the shop with some of his newest creations - the small wood-based flowers made of feathers, wondering if they were something Bunny would like for the store. That was my first time meeting him in person and we had no idea what he was going through at the time. They now hold more meaning here as one of the last things he made, some now here at 100 Main. We’re holding space for Frank on a fellow woodworker’s table with a faux bois tablecloth as a nod to the craft, hosting a selection of his pieces he’s made for us over the years. If you knew him or simply want to know him now, you can visit him here in a medium through which he lives on. Sending love to his community and to his family as you all move through this difficult time.

Here at 100 Main, our goal is to intentionally curate a selection of everything you need to create a home that’s collected over time, thoughtfully designed, and layered splendidly to reflect your personal style… And using mostly local artisans and antiques because truly: what is a life without artists?

Although it may seem fleeting, we’re only a little over one third of the way through summer. The days where the light lingers over the hills or in the valley, holding on the same way we hold on to our favorite days are still here…. Maybe you’re spending your extra day-lit hours out in the garden, cultivating bountiful beauty with locally-thrown terracotta pots, or perhaps you’re lingering a little bit longer at a shared table with friends and neighbors over a meal made using our local Pantry items, served on hand-thrown ceramic platters and bakeware and plates cut with hand-forged steak knives…
Maybe you’re taking a picnic to the lake in our handwoven apero picnic basket on one of those days it feels like a crime to waste indoors. Or maybe you’re curled up on the couch in a handwoven blanket with a book you can’t seem to put down lit by the soft light of our handmade ceramic lamps - maybe a cocktail or warm cup of coffee or tea served in a local mug in your hands… Or you’re getting ready for bed with a candle reminiscent of the gardens lit, using local soaps and lotions from our apothecary.

Through a thoughtful selection of local (and beyond) artisanal goods and antiques, we have those timeless pieces that help to create these moments of peace and ease year round. Those moments that seem small at the time, but that become cherished memories. Each piece has a story of its own ready to weave into your own lives. Here are a few of our current favorites.

This Saturday offers another opportunity -and the last this summer- to view Bunny’s gorgeous gardens… at the height of the season. The first photo offers a woodland perspective of her famous stone-surrounded pool and rustic pool house. There are three open sessions with tickets remaining — 10-12, 12-2, and 2-4– and the weather is looking absolutely stunning in the upper 70s. Visit one, two, or three!

I’m including a few of our favorites with ties to the 100 Main family — Bunny’s in Falls Village, Husky Meadow in Norfolk, and Lee Link’s in Sharon. The wife of Bunny’s head gardener (and the one behind 100 Main’s) is the gardener at Lee Link’s (she also support Bunny’s kitchen / cutting garden). Husky Meadow has gorgeous meadows and fields dotted with orchards, formal + informal pathways and is overseen by Jameson Secco

The best way to view all available gardens is by becoming a member of The Garden Conservancy , which offers reduced-price tickets to all members to all gardens! But non-members are also always able to register for gardens.

Stop by and see us before, after, or during your tours… Grab lunch at Mountainside CAFE CT or offthetrailcafe and pop around to our favorite local shops (besides us of course!) — MARCHÉ across the street in FV, DUGAZON and LE GAMIN SHARON CT in Sharon, Freund’s Farm Market & Bakery on the way to Norfolk … So much beauty in this part of the state- make it a day.
