A few little things around the shop right now.

This head-shaped sculptures with a plant tucked inside.

A very leggy false shamrock (Iron Cross) that somehow still works 🍀

And the sun catching the Burro’s Tail just right.

A little sign of spring 💚.

All winter long, roots are doing the quiet work. Nothing flashy. Nothing visible. Just slow, steady strengthening beneath the surface. And then one day — new leaves. New life. New color.

Plants don’t rush the process. They don’t compare their blooms to the one beside them. They respond to light. They lean toward it.

We’re not that different.

Personal growth often looks like stillness before it looks like progress. It looks like pruning. It looks like shedding what no longer serves us. It looks like trust — believing that what feels dormant is actually developing.

Have you ever seen any of these bloom?

From the top going clockwise: Goldfish plant, variegated string of hearts, and Aeonium “Kiwi.”

The Goldfish plant surprises with bright orange blooms that really do look like little swimming fish. The variegated string of hearts has tiny, delicate purple flowers that are easy to miss but so unique up close. And Aeonium “Kiwi” sends up a tall stalk of yellow flowers.

Have you ever been surprised by one of your plants flowering?

I’m not sure who’s more excited about all the Valentine’s plants! 😻

Friendly reminder not to forget about your houseplants as these temperatures stay so low.

Many houseplants, especially tropical varieties, can start to struggle when temperatures consistently sit between 50°F and 60°F. Temps in the 40s can damage foliage, and freezing temperatures can be fatal.

There are a few exceptions. Some cacti and succulents can tolerate very cold weather, even freezing temps outdoors.

What I do for my houseplants

❄️Move them away from windows and drafty areas.
❄️Keep the heat turned up just a little.
❄️Group plants together to help them stay warm.
