From 1943, until his death in 1954, my dad owned and operated the H. J. Burnham Cabinet Shop at 1610 N. Trenton Street in Ruston, La. He designed and built this awesome mantel clock, and it sat on our mantel for many years. It is made from oak and black walnut wood, with a Sessions model W electric clock.
Unfortunately, sometime in the past, it fell and was badly broken. Recently, while getting ready to demolish our old house, we found it stored in a closet. I restored it in my woodworking shop at home, and, with a new cord and some WD-40, it is now keeping perfect time.
When I get my router table set up, I'm planning to try to build a replica, in honor of him, my super-hero Daddy. I was 14 when he died, and I know without a doubt that I will see him again.
