April is National Native Plant Month. 🌿

Native plants are the foundation of healthy ecosystems. 🌎 They support pollinators and wildlife, strengthen local landscapes, and help communities adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Across the country, Wild Ones chapters and members are working to restore native plants in yards, parks, schools, and public spaces. Every garden, habitat, and planting helps rebuild the ecological connections our landscapes need.

This month, join us in celebrating native plants and the people helping them return to our communities. Learn more about National Native Plant Month: https://nationalnativeplantmonth.org/

FEATURE FRIDAY! 📸

This week’s feature Friday is our CSR/native plant lover, Gina! She wants to feature one of her favorite additions to her garden, Spiderwort!🕷️This grassy looking native, with its cute purple flowers thrives in her shade bed, but can also handle full sun! It is a perennial that enjoys moist soil, so it’s great in wet areas or along waterways. It can also handle a variety of soil types & our little pollinator friends love it! 🐝🦋

We currently carry two varieties of spiderwort! Come see us & let Gina show you where it is! (If she hasn’t bought it all yet 🥴)

Our pollinator this go’round is the Spicebush Swallowtail Butterfly! 🦋

This butterfly lays its eggs on spicebushes & sassafras trees! Both in the Lauraceae family, these host plants are monoecious, meaning each plant is either female or male! The tiny yellow flowers bloom in early spring & turn into beautiful green leaves that have awesome fall color! You do need a male & female to get fruit/berries, however just one plant can host these adorable caterpillars that turn into beautiful butterflies!

We have both plants available & ready for your yard so you can attract these awesome pollinators & enjoy them yourself! 🐛🦋
