What had happened was I was shopping and that guy (in the background) whipped by me with plants in his cart. I flipped around and said, “hey, what’s that?” He was so proud to tell me that the monsteras he had in his cart are expensive, but priced right here. He had three in his cart and had driven from one store to another to find them.

He walked me over to the plant section and one more monstera was sitting there. I picked it up, looked it over, touched it, read the info tag, and the price tag—all while this guy talked about how great the plants are. I indulged him by shaking my head and responding, “I know, I know.”

Just when I thought, I don’t really need to buy this, he said, “actually, that one has the best variegation out of all of them.” I smiled and carefully slipped it in my cart. I had already noticed.

We talked a little more. Then, we parted ways (that’s when I snapped that picture).

Good morning. It’s Saturday (my favorite day) and 77 degrees (in my garden).

I’m not physically in my garden today, but my mind is always there. I’m still traveling. Before I left, I cut blooms from the hydrangeas I first planted about 10 years ago. These are called wedding dress. You can probably see why. I want to see how they’ll look in a few months when the blooms dry.

If I keep my promise to myself, I will have to uproot those hydrangeas for a much coveted She Shed in a year or two. However, I’m not in hurry to move them; they are so happy where they are.

And it’s important to be happy where you are, even if you’re just a plant.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning. It’s Monday(65 degrees).

I planted zinnias I grew from seeds. Wish me luck since I decided not to buy them this year.

Good morning. It’s Saturday (my favorite day) and 58 degrees.

Here’s a peek of the fruit coming through in the backyard. Mr. B handles most of the backyard work. He and I have different approaches to the work so in order to respect each other’s style, I decide which plants we plant and where; he decides how they get planted. We rarely work at the same times in the same spaces. Although we are both early birds, I’m more likely to be already outside by 6:30 in the morning as long as there’s some daylight. He, on the other hand, enjoys slow enjoyment of coffee and the news. Then, when it’s getting too hot for me and I’m running back inside, he is stepping outside ready to tackle any outdoor tasks.

What I had to learn early is that the result is the win! I’m addicted to overthinking and planning which could drive anyone insane. However, it’s nice to know that whatever I dream still can be achieved even if we don’t work in tandem. What we both have to contribute more than our own approaches is peace. Things grow better that way.

Have a sweet Saturday.

And all it needed was time, earth, water, and the sunlight.”

Good morning. It’s Saturday (my favorite day) and 75 degrees.

What a wonderful gardening day. There is so much color and promises of more color. This week, there were a few firsts: this strawberry, a lily, a blanket flower, and a new rosebud. In the meantime, the clearance rack pansies are putting on a glorious show that makes look like a master gardener. Ferns that I thought were not going to come through have done so and motivated me to buy more this fall.

What has also grown in gardening is my patience. I don’t have control over time, earth, water, and the sunlight. All I can do is get in where I fit in because nature is in charge. I want to always collaborate, sometimes manipulate, but definitely respect. As Corinne explains it, “I want to go with [my garden] Where it’s green and all the flowers grow, All the water flows, all the memories go.” Yes.

Have a satisfying Saturday.
