Don’t you love how business owners can petition/complain/pay a fee and have reviews censored or removed from Google Reviews?

FFC in Fayetteville, NC has surely mastered this technique. How else would they be able to maintain a 5 Star rating with all the customers who voice dissatisfaction?

One of the red flags that a contractor is trying to scam you:

Sloppy contracts or no contract at all. What’s that? FFC gives a one year warranty on work but not in writing?

A home improvement professional who only wants to give you a verbal estimate or says “they don’t usually do contracts” is not following industry standards, and they may even be setting you up for a scam.

Having a contract is a widely accepted practice, according to the NAHB. It outlines the scope of the job, how it will be carried out, the completion date, and the agreed-on pricing structure. A contract also protects you in case something goes wrong.

Similarly, a sloppy contract is not a good sign. Did you discuss parameters of the job that are now missing from the contract? That could be a red flag. Finally, never sign anything you haven’t read thoroughly, and don’t sign a contract with blank spaces.

Be aware! Kind words don’t matter once you’ve paid for service and find out is a real disaster that needs double the money to fix.

So a little follow-up. FFC has refused to accept responsibility for their poor work. They’ve lied to the BBB to try and save their rating.

FFC usually gets on FB to make religious posts, ends their meeting with you by saying “have a blessed day” and claims to be very detail oriented, please refrain from any interior drywall work from these guys.

Their tile work is also about a 5 out of 10. Once you make them mad and demand quality work their attitude will change. Eventually, they’ll walk off the job and cut communication like they did with us.

The old saying “buyer beware” was popularized by folks like French Family Construction LLC

Here’s a quick clip of the solid glass wall that Christina French from French Family Construction LLC told the customer “has play in it for a reason” when asked why it was not solidly attached to the wall.

FFC was subsequently fired from the job site.
