Sometimes a floor is more than just a floor.

Last fall, while installing Middle Tennessee Lumber oak flooring for a wonderful family, my father noticed a board sitting in the middle of the room that immediately caught his eye. The grain pattern at the end of the board formed what looked like a perfect heart.

Just a week before, we had learned that the family had lost their amazing daughter, PK, to a rare form of cancer the year before. As we worked our way through the house, we knew exactly where that board belonged.

Without saying anything, we installed the heart-shaped board directly in front of PK's bedroom door.

When we showed the homeowners, the husband quietly reached down, touched the heart with his hand, and thanked us for that small detail. Later, when his wife saw it, she was overwhelmed. She shared that she had collected heart-shaped rocks since their daughter became and angel and couldn't believe what had appeared naturally in the wood.

Moments like that remind us that sometimes the smallest details can mean the most.

We were honored to recently see this story featured in Wood Floor Business Magazine on page 11 of the attached link, but more importantly, we're grateful to have met such an incredible family.

In honor of PK, the family created the PK Prayers Foundation, which continues to spread hope, faith, and support to others facing difficult battles. We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn about their mission and the amazing work they're doing in PK's memory.

Some jobs stay with you long after the last board is installed. This is one of them. ❤️

Finished sanding and refinishing the first unit of our project!

It's always amazing seeing what's hiding underneath the years of wear, scratches, and old finish. These floors cleaned up beautiful and we are on to building 2.

Thanks to Intermoutain Wood Flooring Supply for hosting and awesome open house.Today we got to bring out a small portion of my dad’s hardwood flooring tool collection, something that truly represents his passion and love for this trade. Pieces of history that built this trade long before all the modern fancy equipment.

My dad has been a hardwood floor professional for almost 30 years, and over the last 7 years he’s collected some incredible pieces of flooring history. This collection is truly his pride and joy. From rare hand tools, vintage advertisements, varnish cans, and stuff you will only ever find in our museum, every piece has a story behind it.

One of the coolest pieces is an original drum sander from the early 1900s (featured in our logo), a reminder of the craftsmanship, hard work, and dedication this trade was built on long before modern equipment existed.

Every worn handle, every scratch in the steel, and every piece of equipment tells a story of decades spent mastering the craft and taking pride in doing things the right way. These tools helped build beautiful floors long before today’s modern machines and shortcuts.

We often say if these floors could talk to us, the stories they would have. In this case if these machines could talk, they probably wouldn’t ever shut up. They’ve seen the long days, the blood, sweat, and tears, and generations of craftsmen pushing through life one floor at a time. For a lot of floor guys, these machines were more than tools, they were therapy. No matter what life threw at them, they could go to work, sand away, make dust, clear their head, and keep moving forward.

In a world where everything moves fast, it’s humbling to remember the generations of craftsmen who built beautiful floors with tools like these and pure skill.

A few pictures can’t capture the full history behind these tools, but we thought fellow flooring guys, craftsmen, and history lovers would appreciate seeing a piece of it.

Kicked off a decent project today involving 5 different apartment units in Clayton. This first unit is getting a full sand and refinish to restore these white oak floors. Stay tuned and watch these floors come to life.

Today we stepped away from the jobsite to focus on growth.

We attended an incredibly informative and motivating seminar on sales, personal development, and buisness mindset put on by Brandon J Roofing. Our biggest takeaway is sales isn't about pressure it is about service and mindset.

We take pride in providing the absolute best service and treating every customer like family.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn and improve and we can't wait to contiune to bring that mindset to the families and homes we serve.

Thank you to Intermountain Wood Flooring in Fenton for inviting me to your grand opening. I was able to meet Wayne Lee and get a couple of tips from him and he even did a edger demo for me. Also won a Primatech 900A flooring nailer that will allow us to blind nail up to 2 inches from tha wall.
