Ever wonder what goes into achieving a beautiful, luxury wood-stained finish?
Today is our final day completing all the interior doors and frames throughout this home, and we wanted to share what goes into the process.
A professional wood-staining finish involves more than simply applying stain.
1. Surface Preparation & Sanding: We carefully prepare the wood, smoothing imperfections and creating a consistent surface for staining.
2. Wood Conditioning: We apply a wood conditioner when appropriate to help control stain absorption and reduce blotchiness, especially on woods that absorb stain unevenly.
3. Stain Application: We carefully apply the stain to enhance the natural wood grain while achieving a consistent color across the doors and frames.
4. Sealing: Once the stain has dried properly, we apply a compatible sealer to prepare and protect the stained surface.
5. Protective Finish Coats: We apply protective clear coats to improve durability and create a smooth, refined finish that stands up to everyday use.
6. Final Inspection: We check for color consistency, smoothness, and finishing details throughout the home.
Why does proper preparation matter? Because even the most beautiful stain can’t hide poor workmanship. Every step contributes to the appearance, consistency, and longevity of the finish.
Luxury isn’t just the final look. It’s the process behind it.
