Found this when doing an inspection after a chimney fire, thankfully there was no damage outside of the interior of the chimney. This is a prefab chimney passing through through the interior of the home then transitioning via regular, single wall, stove pipe to a "stub" masonry chimney that was built on and supported by the attic floor. Not really an ideal chimney set up and likely contributed to the conditions that cause the chimney fire. Removed the old, partial, masonry chimney and installed all new prefab which should perform better then the old system and be safer as well. Have questions about your chimney?
