The Folly Boat The Folly Boat - Welcoming passersby the Folly Beach since 1989. Come, Paint, Share your story! The Folly Boat washed ashore during Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

When no one claimed the boat local artists began painting murals on the boat. It is now a Folly Beach tradition, and has been welcoming passersby to Folly Beach ever since.
