As we roll into June, keep an eye out for these gorgeous Peacock Flower/Mexican Bird or Paradise/Pride of Barbados! Lots of names for such a beautiful plant! They thrive in our crazy Louisiana weather in the full sun and are starting to really show their bright orange/yellow/red blooms! They can reach over 10’ tall and have fern like leaves. Caesalpinia pulcherrima is a vibrant, heat-loving shrub that thrives in full sun and well-drained soil in our warm Louisiana climate (USDA zones 8a-10b). It attracts pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. It’s a must for all Louisiana landscapes!

Blackfoot Daisy is a low, bushy, mounded perennial, usually 6-12 in. tall and twice as wide. It is covered with narrow leaves and 1 in. wide, white, daisy-like flowers. These Beautiful, rugged, heat and drought tolerant natives are a superb choice for low-water wildflower gardens and arid xeric gardens. White, yellow-centered, honey-scented daisies cover the mound of grey-green foliage throughout an extensive bloom period, given moderate summer moisture. An herbaceous perennial.

They are full sun, drought tolerant and hardiness zoned for 5-11.

Our Bleeding Hearts come in 2 very distinctive variations! They are locally grown at the nursery. Both are a twining, tropical vines cloaked in large, deep green foliage and vibrant color d blooms! Great for anyone looking for bright fun colors and beautiful blooms on a climbing plant.
One variety has dark red butterfly shaped flowers emerging from large clusters of starkly contrasting bright white calyxes. The other has dark red butterfly shaped flowers emerging from large clusters of starkly contrasting pink calyxes. Bleeding Heart flowers attracting mainly butterflies but can also attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. They can adapt and take sun, but prefer a partially shaded area that is well drained as they like to be watered but don’t want to have soggy feet.
