So we have had some snow, which is good. However, the soil can still be dry, especially under evergreen trees and shrubs, which are the plants that need winter watering the most. Warm and windy weather can really dry out the roots of small pines as well as large pines and spruce.

Check the root zones and water the plants if the soil feels dry. A good general guideline is 10 gal H2O for every 1" of tree trunk diameter, or for every 1 foot height of shrub.

Have fun with water on a warm afternoon! Everyone and every thing needs a little TLC.

Well, it is just too darn cold here, hovering between -10 and 10 degrees F for past few days, more expected.

It's not too late to plant Spring Flowering . Fort Collins Nursery still has a good selection.

It is time to plant Spring flowering bulbs for early season color next year. Try the smaller types of Tulips, Crocus and Daffodils, which will come back and multiply year after year!

We are at the time of year when we could get the first frost of the Fall. Be prepared to protect any precious plants or to bring houseplants inside!
