“You wouldn’t believe this home was once a chiropractic office filled with small offices and exam rooms. This space had its first remodel back in the 90’s, which was furnished with your standard honey oak cabinetry and trim, linoleum flooring, laminate countertops, and the dreaded popcorn ceilings. The homeowner was in dire need of another remodel in order to accommodate their large family gatherings and modern tastes.
The renovations include a large eat-in island that becomes the main focal point of the room. As you walk through the front door, the dramatic quartz countertops draw your eyes past the living room directly to the kitchen. The dark blue base cabinets ground the entire kitchen, creating a bold and modern touch, while the light, gray-washed upper cabinets brighten the space by reflecting the natural light that floods in from the backyard.
To maximize storage, we added a walk-in pantry featuring floating shelves, base cabinets, and open-shelving utility cabinets. A double barn door was added to close off the pantry when not in use while also serving as a decorative frame around the pantry when doors are open.
The homeowner can prepare their lattes at their new coffee bar, located to the left of the pantry while enjoying the views of their backyard. Furnished with an under-counter wine cooler, and storage for glassware, barware, and mugs, the separated space has everything they need.
Down to the details, a fireclay apron front sink was added to expand on the farmhouse touch of the pantry doors, and the cabinetry was enhanced with modern matte-black bar pulls. We opted for the glossy subway tile backsplash to further lighten the space against the dark base cabinets.
This moody and modern kitchen is equipped with ample work and gathering space, significant storage, and welcomes guests into its bold and vibrant atmosphere.”
