As Chair of the Trustee Advisory Council for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, Debbie was proud to attend the recent Trustee Reception hosted by the International Swimming Hall of Fame and developer Mario Caprini, CEO of Capital Group.

Guests enjoyed updates on the exciting public-private partnership helping shape this iconic destination, along with the signing of ISHOF’s first athlete, James Lichtenstein, and an incredible live diving show overlooking the waterfront.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has launched a new system allowing importers to apply for tariff refunds through the CAPE tool in the ACE Portal. What does this mean for our industry?

For developers, contractors, and suppliers in South Florida, this is worth paying attention to. Many construction materials, including metals, fixtures, and specialty components, have been impacted by tariffs over the past few years. This new process creates an opportunity for eligible importers to recover costs tied to those duties.

Important points to note:
* Refunds are submitted through CBP’s ACE Portal using the new CAPE tool
* Only entry numbers are required for submission
* Refund timelines are estimated at 60–90 days after approval
* Multiple filings are allowed, making this scalable for larger portfolios

For projects in South Florida, where material sourcing, pricing, and timelines are already complex, this could have a meaningful impact on overall project costs and financial planning.

What a great night of connection and community impact at the Florida Design and Construction Professionals After Hours event.

Together, we raised $3,100 and collected a ton of shoes in support of Neighbors 4 Neighbors making a real difference for families in need across our community.

A big thank you to our co-sponsors Alec Bogdanoff and Michael Antinelli of Brizaga for partnering with us on such a meaningful evening. It was also great to see so many familiar faces and partners, including Francisco Beroiz of Maxwell Electric. We were excited to bring Breanna Johnson, one of our new team members, with us. Special shout out to Melissa Milroy, the new Executive Director of FLDCP, for doing an outstanding job leading the organization.

We're excited to share one of our latest projects, the Seventh Day Adventist Church - Brazilian Temple located in Oakland Park. Check out the project progress so far with this view from the top!

The scope of work includes an addition of a 3,500+ sq. ft. air-conditioned space, as well as civil and landscaping work.

The members of this dedicated community are very excited for this expansion -- and Danto Builders is proud to be a part of it!
