Our mini retreat on the lake was a much needed break for all of us! Though the effects of the hurricane was seen, our thoughts and prayers are still with those affected by the hurricane season both in the Caribbean and in the Carolinas.

Speaking of breaks, we took the summer off for Maximizing AI series and can't wait for the Fall sessions with you. We have a few refinements and refocusing to do ......

Had an absolute blast at the annual Black Women in Architecture event, meeting and sharing with students and industry professionals. It was so great hearing the journeys and the stories has been heartwarming! From virtual to in person, it was a beautiful time!

Spent the last weekend singing with an awesome team, music 🎶 is one of my loves and next to design ..... Creative flow....

Hope all is well.

We did a quick shopping run for the holidays and found this delightful second floor at a supermarket chain we frequent. We went to different one further away than usual!

It became a teaching moment as the kids and I discussed why this was different from the typical design.

We discussed:
1. Layout
2. Lighting
3. Furniture
4. Style

It even had an elevator.

Our shopping trip unexpectedly became a field trip and it further solidified the creation of my new academy.

Q2 is time for a new season and more sessions esp. for our emerging designers (yours and mine), whether they are heading to college or graduating. Mentoring Moments will support our young designers with skills needed to orient their design thinking and timeline. (Stuff you wish something told you from the get).

More on this later .....

Now back to discussing why our favorite coffee place needs design updates because the layout "doesn't feel right" with the princess.

Designing Luxury was the epitome of the work of Paul Williams, a black architect and designer who designed for celebrities, socialites and hoteliers in California.

He designed the house and the pool in the previous post for the Hiltons. He was a contemporary of Desi Anez and Lucille Ball, and learnt to draw upside down so he wouldn't be seated beside his white clients. (1940s to 1960s)

Interiors below : Beverly Hills Hotel Renovations(1940s, though he redesigned the interiors, he couldn't stay there)

As much as I love tech and Innovation
I also love history and knowing
the journey of those who were changemakers.
So on my journey in architecture and interior design from my master's degree to the many business/ design opportunities over the years. I have learned to maximize design and maximize life.

As mummy would say,
"Don't waste anything
It good for something"

This is why Paul Williams inspires
He could have chosen not to
But he took the job instead
And maximize the opportunity
To work with an iconic hotel.

Love Lavishly....
A gifted kitchen for a client...
Have a lovely day ❤️

He wanted to give her the kitchen of her dreams! Life was precious to them and he wanted to see the joy in her eyes as she dreamt of
what that meant!

She didn't know how but she wanted a design echoing their travels and their love.

Red she said to my surprise!
We loved Asia and we love the sea and wanted this designer to it home for their life together!

Was I up for the challenge?
I was a young designer with a multi-cultural background. She valued my perspective over my experience because she knows that I understand both coastal and cultural.

Being a Caribbean designer, I didn't have to go far for inspiration.....

Custom was the only way to go....
Nearly twenty years later,
Custom is "still" our standard!

Back to the story, we choose custom cabinets for an elite cabinet company and custom color matching a color. We customized solutions from organizers from to koi fish handles and tiles from which brought together the notes of love they wanted to give each other.....

So on this love day....whatever the expression
