Our project has officially begun! Bailey the Pup is checking out the porch, soon to be turned into a dining room that seats 16 with a fabulous view of the creek.

The goal is to take the semi-newish and transform it into a cozy, campy, Lowcountry-inspired vacation spot with a 1930s beach house vibe.

Meetings with contractors have started the ball rolling so stay tuned for more updates. ⚓️

A peek into the workroom of while they’re creating beautiful draperies for our project. These panels are in an Asian toile and edged with a crisp coral glazed linen band.

They’re headed to the project foyer where we’re doing a very different, very updated look. 🪸More coming soon!

A nice quiet day at the studio assembling and editing bookshelf ingredients for our project bookcases. The project great room has tall, built-in bookcases, painted white, that flank the fireplace and are deep and non-adjustable, making them a bit harder to do!

All of the items pictured here were sourced locally. Even though 99% of what we sell is new and custom made for our clients, those last touches are often impossible to find new. Once we determine the look we want, we scour local antique shops for just the right thing.

Here are a few details we kept in mind while searching for the right items for these bookcases:

* Color & Continuity - because the room’s furnishings are in warm natural wood tones, we’ll use the same for items on the shelves. We’ll also add color in small amounts to tie in the room’s fabrics.

* Contrast - because the bookcases and fireplace are painted white, we’re using medium to dark items, including antique wood boxes, bowls and sculptural driftwood and colorful items and books, to add a nice contrast.

* Dimension - because the bookcase is deep, we’ll need to layer items on the shelves using art, book stacks and three dimensional sculptural elements.

* Content - because the interior was designed in a Charleston-inspired look, the bookshelves will display items that relate a similar traditional, Lowcountry mood.

The only thing left is to now find a few new things: a couple of large bowls and coffee table book stacks in the right color and subject matter for this family of readers!

Our upcoming beach house project start date is a week away but we’re already working on a collection of nautical items. With 4200 square feet, 2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms, several bathrooms and a very long porch-turned-dining room, there are a LOT of walls to decorate!

I’m crazy about an anchor and a ship picture anyway so here’s a good place to go overboard. A little beach house kitsch never hurt anything as long as it’s balanced out by classic shapes and fabrics and contributes to the overall color scheme. 🇺🇸

Our Phase II project apartment is almost complete…the kitchen, with -inspired green cabinetry, green-tinged marble counter and backsplash and wood and brass hardware, will be nicely balanced by a green velvet bed on the opposite side.

The bath, with vanity in the same green color and same hardware, will have a moody wallpaper and beautiful mirror. Marble floor is from Tile Collection!

Our Phase II project powder room is almost finished but already a showstopping space with this gorgeous Calacatta Viola marble counter and tall backsplash. The shape of the backsplash with mitered corners mirrors the vanity contours, expertly fabricated by .

All the colors of this space meld together beautifully - the dark violet veined honed marble has both the gold from the white oak vanity and the lavender from the faux-sisal wallpaper (see the small swatch behind the faucet).

The English gold faucet, hardware and brass and acrylic sconces add lots of warmth and sparkle.

More custom throw pillows are headed to a project, these for a huge blue velvet sectional sofa at our lake house.

Three kiwi-green linen pillows and three others in a small blue and green print with a double-flange trim in kiwi will add down-filled plushness to an already comfy sectional by .

A few more finishing touches and this bonus room with a fabulous lake view will be done.✔️

This 8' long vintage commercial kitchen island may not look like much yet…but it will be a great kickoff for the “Old Pawleys” look we’re going for at our new beach house project.

The stainless countertop and galvanized metal frame and pot rack will look great in the newly remodeled kitchen with stainless appliances, white tongue and groove walls and ceiling and painted cabinets. Navy countertops and pine furnishings will be a great foil for red accents.

We’ll add a few vintage rattan swivel stools with navy and white striped seats, hang pots, pans and baskets from the pot rack and store dishware below. The goal look is campy, relaxed, nautical, elegant and authentic.

We’re starting the hunt for our upcoming beach house project, a 20-year old house we’re redoing with an “Old Pawleys” look. Yesterday we did a quick scouting trip, the intent only to do a preliminary look-see, but then we saw these great items at the and decided they had just the right look.

Speaking of the look - to us an “Old Pawleys” look is as they say there, “arrogantly shabby”. The furnishings should be a mix of a recognizable formal style (colonial style furnishings made in the mid-1900s are especially good) with an authentically distressed or slightly chipped exterior. A few campy, casual items in a light-to-natural wood tone are also essential.

In our case, we’re doing a red, white and blue color scheme so the red Berkey and Gay chest of drawers, navy lacquered campaign style dresser and four cute red dining chairs (we’ll recover the seats) are a great start.

These custom throw pillows from are headed to our project great room where they’ll blend all the colors of both living and dining spaces together.

There is a small blue print; a multi-color large floral; a deep green velvet; a brown and white check with green velvet welt; and a velvet with Greek key trim. All will help complete this lovely Charleston-inspired room!
