🔥 HEAT vs EM HEAT — What’s the Difference? 🏠

When temperatures drop, your thermostat might show two heating options: HEAT and EM HEAT.
They look similar… but they work very differently 👇

🔥 1. HEAT (Normal Mode)

Your system uses the heat pump to pull warm air from outside and bring it indoors.
✅ It’s the most efficient and economical setting.
🟢 Use it during normal cold weather when your system is working properly.

🚨 2. EM HEAT (Emergency Heat)

This mode turns off the heat pump and activates a backup system, like electric or gas resistance heating.
⚠️ It uses much more electricity and should only be used in emergencies.
🔴 Turn it on only if:

The outdoor unit is frozen or damaged.

The heat pump isn’t heating at all.

A technician instructs you to use it temporarily.

💡 Pro Tip:
Keep your thermostat on HEAT most of the time.
Use EM HEAT only if your main system fails or while waiting for service.
