Three years ago, AJO was recognized by The American Institute of Architects for our resiliency work. Our buildings remained standing and performed as intended through major hurricanes, demonstrating the value of resilient design.

When hurricanes hit Florida, architecture mattered.

When communities rebuild, architecture matters.

When housing, resilience, and public safety are on the line, architecture matters.

This a national story, not a Florida story.

After three years of planning, designing, and rebuilding, the Harkey Sea Turtle Complex on Sanibel Island is officially coming to life. We’re honored to have partnered with on a project that will soon become the only licensed sea turtle rehabilitation facility between Sarasota and the Keys, creating a critical resource for wildlife conservation along Florida’s coast.

At AJO, every project starts with listening. Understanding our client’s mission, long-term goals, and the impact they hope to make allows us to design spaces that do more than function, they serve a purpose. Watching this vision become reality has been incredibly rewarding.

We can’t wait to share the final photos … especially when the turtles move in. 💚🐢
