What are all those poles sticking up through the roof? 🤔
They're part of an advanced induction welding system that allows us to install a new TPO roofing system directly over an existing metal roof while still meeting strict wind uplift requirements.
Here's how it works:
✔ Special coated plates are fastened through the insulation and directly into the building's steel purlins (the structural framing beneath the roof).
✔ Those plates are then hidden underneath the TPO membrane.
✔ Using an induction welder, we weld the membrane to the plates from above—without any exposed fasteners on the finished roof.
Why does that matter?
Most metal roof panels aren't thick enough on their own to provide the wind resistance required for a commercial roofing system. This method allows us to anchor directly to the building's structure, creating a stronger, more secure roof while using less material and avoiding thousands of exposed fasteners.
It's one of those details most people never see, but it's exactly the kind of engineering that helps a commercial roof perform for years to come.
At Miller Roofing, we believe the quality of a roof is determined by what happens before the project is finished.
