Big Bend Yucca Company is excited to announce the start of our spring 2025 shipping season. After replenishing our stock, we are pleased to offer Agave ovatifolia once again, having sold out in 2023. We have received numerous requests for this popular agave and appreciate our customers' patience while we propagated additional plants. To accommodate demand, we will be shipping weekly every Monday from March through May. As the ideal planting season has arrived, we invite you to select a location in your landscape and place your order today.

We have experienced a slower than anticipated commencement to Spring 2025; however, we have augmented our online store's inventory today. The delay is attributed to the additional time required for the H2A worker visa application process, but we are now on track for our employees to return within the coming week. I anticipate that our initial shipping date will be 3/24. We appreciate everyone's patience as we initiate operations for the year.

It has been a long, hot summer, and we have worked seven days a week to keep up with demand from our wholesale and retail businesses. Now that October is around the corner, we are breathing a sigh of relief. It has been wonderful, and recently we hosted a YouTube creator, Joey, on the farm, whose channel is called 'Crime pays but botany doesn’t.' Joey is hilarious, and I found his straightforward communication refreshing. Note: if you have sensitive ears, you may want to skip this video; otherwise, enjoy!

After a lengthy winter hiatus, our online retail store at Shopify is once again open for business! Freshly dug yuccas and agaves are available for purchase, with shipments going out every Monday thanks to UPS. Please note that if this weekend brings rain to west Texas as predicted, harvesting may not be possible due to muddy ground conditions; in which case the next delivery would take place on March 25th instead.

One of my favorite programs on Marfa Public radio is called Nature Notes, and this past week Nature Notes gave me the honor of doing a short piece about my work with Yucca rostrata. If you have four minutes, take a listen. Also, there will be a native plant sale tomorrow, April 29, in Alpine, Texas.
