Keeping it slow and easy this past week, chomping at the bit to continue the restoration project. But homes are still being bought and sold, with my favorite realtor needing that problem-solving touch.

This ongoing restoration in Fort Worth is coming along nicely. Replacement (and in some places added) moisture barrier, replacement of weathered or broken #105 siding, and engineered trim throughout. The new siding was primed and sealed with an oil based primer. This not only seals the pine, but will also block any tannins from discoloring the coming paint.

Whether you know it as Dutchlap, Cove, or Germanlap, this classic southern pine wood siding is always worth protection and restoration. #105 in the Southern Pine Pattern book. As we will see tomorrow, the unfortunate common issue is that when you are dealing with 50+ year old mill work, sizing is just not the same. Originally 7.5 inches wide, when aged, the modern machining brings the siding in at 7.25, making line matching an impossible task, when applying with aging/weathering/expansion-contraction in mind.

Another one for the books! This beautiful Aledo 3-2-2 had been used and abused for over 2 years. Kelly-Moore and Zinsser Coverstain for the win! Floor covering still to come.
