Starting Friday, January 23rd , we are forecasted to have below-freezing night temperatures for one week.
From Friday evening through Monday morning, a consecutive freeze is expected, with a chance of ice or slush on Saturday. Overnight temperature may drop into the low teens.
Please take the following precautions this week:
Water in all plants ahead of the freeze.
Protect or cover any sensitive plants you may have.
Thursday will be the latest day to cover plants, as rain is likely on Friday.
Do not forget to unhook your water hose and cover your outdoor spigot.
If you do not have a rain/freeze sensor for your irrigation system or are unsure, turn the controller off.
Taking these steps will help minimize damage during the cold spell.

FREEZE WARNING FOR LANDSCAPE
Saturday night, 12/13, is expected to get down into the low 30s with Sunday night, 12/14, possibly into the 20s.
WATER
If your soil is dry, please make sure to water in your plants at least a day before extreme cold sets in. Water again once temperatures goes back up into the 40s. Wet soil retains more heat around the root systems.
MOVE
Move containers with frost-tender plants to protected locations ( against the house, onto a porch, or in a garage) away from cold winds. For winter containers like kales/pansy combo, make sure to water in thoroughly and protect from high wind.
COVER
Cover cold sensitive plants with frost protection fabric. Remember it only adds 10 degrees but the goal is to reduce the drying effect of cold wind. You can also use light-weight blankets/sheets. Do NOT use plastic! Uncover plants as soon as warm temperatures return. Small plants / groundcovers like Ajuga can be covered with a thick layer of dry leaves or pine straws.
