🌑️ Keep HVAC running even when away
πŸ’§ Clean up spills right away β€” no standing water
πŸ“Š Monitor indoor humidity (35–55% is the sweet spot)

Seeing small gaps in your hardwood floors this summer? 😯

Do not panic. It is completely normal.

Wood expands and contracts with humidity. In dry conditions (like a heavily air-conditioned home), slight gapping is just physics. Those gaps will close when humidity returns in fall.

If your gaps seem larger than normal or you see cupping (edges raised), that is worth a conversation. Call us and we will help you figure it out.

North Texas summers are beautiful. Your hardwood floors need a little extra love to stay that way. 🌑️

Did you know that humidity is the #1 enemy of hardwood floors in our climate?

When the air gets humid, wood expands. When it dries out in winter, it contracts. Over time, those swings can cause gapping, cupping, and cracking.

The fix is simple: keep your indoor humidity between 35–55% year-round. Your HVAC does most of the work β€” just do not leave the house sealed up with the AC off for extended periods.

Is a heated tile floor worth it? πŸ’°πŸ”₯

For a standard master bath (60 sq ft), adding Schluter DITRA-HEAT at build time typically runs $600–$1,200 in materials and electrical.

Retrofitting it after tile is installed? Much more expensive.

The lesson: have the conversation at the design phase, not after the fact.

Want to know more? Ask us β€” we will walk you through exactly what it adds to your project.

Engineered vs. solid hardwood β€” which is right for your home? πŸ€”

Both are real wood. Both look beautiful. Here's the quick version:

🌳 Solid β€” can be refinished many times, timeless investment, but more sensitive to humidity and moisture.
πŸ”¨ Engineered β€” real wood veneer, handles Texas climate better, more flexible for installation over slab.

Neither is wrong β€” it just depends on your home and lifestyle.

Did you know? πŸ’‘

Your new hardwood floor arrives at your home BEFORE install day β€” on purpose.

Wood needs time to adjust to the temperature and humidity of its new home. We call it acclimation, and it takes about 7 days. Skip it and you risk buckling, gapping, or cupping after move-in.

Our team builds this into every single install schedule. The floors we install today are still looking great a decade later. That is not an accident. πŸ™Œ
