This is out latest flooring job that we just completed. Laminate was previously installed by home depot, and the floor was screeded completely wrong. Yes, laminate has a little more forgiveness, but my customers had a lot of creaking And noise coming from the floor due to low areas and improper floor prep.. Home depot poured a few bags of self level And just screeded it without skimming anything back out and leaving lots of low spots etc.. Had it have been poured correctly no skimming would have been needed. Home depot themselves do not have licensed contractors installing their flooring. They just subcontract it out to pretty much anybody sense here in texas, nobody has to be licensed to do things like this. The number one cause of failure, especially with LVP is lack of floor prep or having a crew that is not experienced enough in getting floors flat. The floors do not need to be level. They need to be flat.( Level is desired but flat is required) i would have loved to pour some more self level. But I did not want to have height issues with the existing tile etc. We used nine bags of Using 886 (Floor skim coat and repair cement)to get this floor where it needed to be. It was a slow process, but definitely worth the final result. I strive to have relationships and customers that repeatedly call me back versus the' "one time customer" we spent about two and a half days getting this floor within a sixteenth of an inch if that out being 100% flat. We used some eight millimeter thick, twenty mil .9 inch wide By 59 inch long luxury vinyl plank. This is a Newer Shaw floorte product. This was definitely some very durable material we installed in this one. This was ran on a random install. We removed the old dark quarter round and installed some pine shoe molding that was painted with Behr Marquee satin paint. We went ahead and painted all of the baseboards as well. We install a lot of shaw products, mainly carpet and lvp. This is a manufacturer that I will always stand by. I have been using this manufacture for many,Many years with 0 callbacks or issues with quality problems etc. Shaw also stands behind all of their manufacture warranties, as long as everything is installed within specifications. We always give an installation warranty and the manufacture will always give Their warranty based on commercial or residential use. Even if you are a little out of our installation warranty timeline, I will still come and make sure things are taken care of should there be an issue with anything that we have installed. That is something that I guarantee "All" of my customers. I personally will come fix anything that isn't up to your standards or failed in any way.
