We are expecting more than 60 hours of below-freezing temperatures this weekend. To help prevent issues, we recommend placing a safe heat source at both your wellhead and pressure tank. Please be careful not to use excessive heat, as this can damage pipes, wiring, or cause pipe threads to fail.
If your well does not supply water to your home and you are able to shut it down, we suggest turning off the breaker, draining all water lines, and leaving faucets open to help protect your system from freezing.
If you do experience a loss of water service, please try the following steps:
1. Turn off the breaker.
2. Place a safe heat source at your wellhead, pressure tank, and any exposed piping. Be sure the heat is gentle and not hot enough to damage wiring or melt pipes.
3. Once heat is in place, allow time for the system to thaw before turning the breaker back on. This may take a fee minutes or several hours, depending on weather conditions and the heat source used. If water does not return, turn the breaker back off and allow additional time to thaw.
4. When water service is restored, leave the heat source in place at the wellhead and tank.
Please stay safe and warm, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need assistance!
