It never ends. After finding a wall 1 1/2” out of plumb, I began pulling sheet rock off the ceiling to cut braces and pull the wall back into plumb. Then I found this monstrosity. 2x, 1x, plywood with the shingles still attached. (Zoom in on the left side) that’s not an optical illusion either. It was all falling. I pulled it all out by hand.

Started off with foam board insulation and osb up to 8’. Next was truss member repair and pulling the truss back into plumb so it didn’t have a huge belly where the overhead electrical was pulling on it. Ended the day with wrap and ready for door install and metal tomorrow.

What not to do for house wrap. Also, don’t screw vinyl siding, especially not with interior coarse thread drywall screws. It’s not supposed to be fastened so tight it can’t flex, either.

Sometimes the little things go the furthest. Myself and the home owner made a huge mess of this back yard. That trailer was over flowing with debris. Scrap plywood and tin everywhere. We had a dumpster delivered and I shot him a short message to update him and let him know we were doing a a big clean up. The concrete cuts, siding, studs and old insulation was expected. I said, “hey we basically filled this 20 yard dumpster up in 2 hours. There is a little space if yall want to toss anything else.”

The reply made the day: “i think I’ll try to find some time to empty what i can off that trailer.”

I was going to leave it as a surprise because I know how stressed they have been. I made it three 3 hours before I informed him we had already emptied the trailer. With any luck, this took some weight of his shoulders.

Foam board installed by 9, osb installed by 10:30. Pulled off for a few hours for a big clean up after having a dumpster delivered. House wrap installed and ended with all j channel and rat guard installed. You may know a guy, you may know a crew, but not many one man crews will give you the quality vs price vs time outcome. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Bottom plate and all studs replaced one by one except for the three we didn’t accoiunt for to prop the garage roof up and roof line leveled up

I’ve seen some water and termite damage, but this is a whole different level. The first picture is a garage door header. All the studs around it were also toast. It required zero tools to pull the header down, and it was the same for all 40’ of exterior wall. This was day one.

1 day: strip vinyl siding, pull nails, frame in new window and sliding door, patch holes in foam board, install new sliding door and window, and get osb 85% ready for metal siding. That’s not all. Also did some interior wall layout, cabinet layout, and some soffit demo.
