This is a real "crossover" moment, when the last of the Christmas amaryllis blooms share the same Spring window with the forced forsythia branches. Happy Spring!

Here are 3 of my favorite lilacs: 'Bloomerang', which reblooms in late Summer, 'Tinkerbell' and 'Miss Kim'. It's wonderful when they are all in bloom!

Although we are practicing 'social distancing', we certainly want to stay in touch with you all. Here are some of the photos from our yard today: Bloodroot flowers, Pieris japonica 'Little Heath', Hellebore sp., Chionodoxa flowering in the midst of the foliage from Winter aconites, Forsythia intermedia, and a lovely piece of artwork on our driveway from our neighbors! Please post photos of what's flowering in your yard. Nature heals.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are so grateful for all of you.

With all these below-zero temperatures, don't be surprised next Summer if your blue hydrangeas don't bloom well. They mostly bloom off of the old wood's buds that have to survive through the Winter. If you have cultivars of the 'Endless Summer' series, there is a better chance of having flowers because they bloom off of new wood as well.

The heat of the Summer has been difficult for all of us, but the plants seem to be thriving in the gardens. From the vegetable garden, we have harvested peas, arugula, tomatoes, green beans, rhubarb, spinach and radishes so far. Yum! The perennial beds are full and lush, and the planters of annuals are really filling out.
