In our greenhouse , I collaborate with nature to create a sensory sanctuary. Collecting Pelargoniums, or scented geraniums, I savor their nutmeg, rose, ginger, and apricot aromas as I brush each leaf.
Potted lavender, spearmint, and thyme enrich the air, weaving a fragrant their scent in the air.
Spending time here, surrounded by these soothing aromas, brings a deep sense of calm, grounding me in the moment.

Our Cabin
It wasn’t love at first sight.
Our affection for our 1850s log home blossomed gradually.
Initially rough around the edges, adorned with a red roof and a wagon wheel chandelier, her timeless charm still shone through.
We sought to honor her original beauty with design choices that enhanced her character. On the exterior, we restored the historic log walls, changing out brown siding for weathered reclaimed barnwood, and replacing the red roof with cedar shakes.
We enveloped our beloved cabin in gardens—a sweet knot garden, brimming with chaotic blooms and framed by boxwood, welcomes every guest.
This October marks our third year in this cherished home, and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
It’s a privilege to steward her legacy, weaving our story into hers as she has become part of ours.

When we live on Patina Farm in Ojai, California, I loved experimenting with different rose varieties that thrived in our climate. Now that we live in Tennessee, I’m exploring flowers that thrive here! Tulips, and other bulbs like daffodils and allium, have brought so much joy and beauty to our gardens here at Patina Meadow.I chose tulip varieties “Black Parrot”, “Queen Night”, and Amethyst Mix” from Eden Brothers and Berbee. Their hues of deep burgundy, cerise and aubergine are a wonderful complement to the strong wood tones of our cabin. This is the second year that we planted bulbs in this location, and I’m looking forward to adding even more in the fall.We also planted summer perennials, including limelight hydrangea and anise hysop that will begin to bloom once the tulips fade. I’ll share my ever evolving garden then!Special thank you to for helping me with the design of my sweet cabin garden 💚 xxBrooke•🎥 • •

I began by setting a visual foundation of antique black books from and , setting the stage for each shelf. I then added a little unexpected charm with a vintage stone chicken on the bottom, and black and gray vessels filled with dried sunflowers from our garden to visually connect everything. For a dash of playfulness, I sprinkled a few small Swedish antique wooden toy horses and cows on the shelves . Adding a bit of our family’s personal story to our display, I included unique pottery pieces by , when you're styling your shelves, balance size and color, but don't forget to infuse your personality. What story do your shelves tell?xx Brooke.

People often ask me if we have help on our farm.We are blessed to have several animal loving humans that share our days and love our animals as much as we do, but Steve and I enjoy doing our morning farm chores just the two of us. Spending the early hours in the barn is the most peaceful and grounding ritual of our days, reminding us to stay in the present moment, and offering us the gift of caring for someone beyond ourselves. That’s all our little charges ask of us when we are with them… and the occasional ginger snap cookie 🍪 Anyone who catches a glimpse of us with our little herd will probably think that we are the ones in charge, but the reality is that we are the students receiving the knowledge our animals generously reveal to us. In return for our love and attention (and cookies), these sweet souls share their wisdom and love…xxBrooke • •

Apparently I thought a freezing morning would be the perfect time to discuss animal parasites 🥶🤔😂Join me and Steve this morning as we share our ever evolving approach to keeping our sweet animals healthy. We start each day cleaning the barn to keep parasites at bay. Our animals thrive on natural treats; pigs, donkeys, and dogs enjoy pumpkin, goats and sheep get crunchy pumpkin seeds, and our chickens peck at red pepper flakes. We also implement weekly herbal dewormers and practice rotational grazing, particularly effective during wet seasons, to ensure both land and animals flourish. These methods reduce the need for chemical dewormers, combat resistance, and honor the natural rhythm of life on our farm. Discover these simple yet profound practices with us, and perhaps find inspiration for your own slice of rural bliss. Always consult your vet before introducing new feeding practices. Share your tips or questions in the comments!xxBrooke
