Hi everyone and Welcome to This Week’s Monday Funday - Uncle D takes on a new challenge.
Many of you may recognize our Brother Dave from the Family Fun Day Hayride, he has been the driver of our 1950 Ford 8N since it took over the position.
Like the rest of us, Dave went to Griebling School and then on to Freehold Township High School, before going off to College. Once he decided to join the teaching profession, he knew he wanted to return to his Almada, Freehold Township .
Here he would be a well respected teacher in the mathematics department, as well the Varsity Girls Soccer Coach.
As Coach he has an Amazing record, including state and Shore conference titles. Having been blessed by an Amazing Group of Girls year after year, he treasures the Family atmosphere and Team Unity, many of the kids have gone on to further their accomplishments in the sport.
Dave recently told me “ Flag football is the fastest growing sport in the country, within the next few years every major university will field a team , with many scholarships being available. The sport will also be in the 2028 Olympics.”
David was aware of the sports rise in popularity, and after a generous donation was gifted to each school in the Freehold Regional District by the NY Jets, the possibility of the team was suddenly a reality.
Dave approached his athletic director and asked if they had a coach in mind for the team, lol, Yes they did, they were hoping he would start and build the program. After a discussion with his Family, and the interest in his youngest, Tessa, playing in the sport down the road , it was an easy decision.
Dave, admittedly not knowledgeable on flag football coaching, was joined by a group of Girls for the 2026 season , all of them also new to the sport.
With a goal of learning and getting better every day while also having fun, they recently completed their inaugural season.
They finished with a record of 3 and 6, learned a lot, admittedly had a ton of Fun , and built the foundation for what they hope will be a successful team in the future.
Tomorrow night we will Welcome Coach D and The Lady Patriots to the Patterson Family Barn for their inaugural banquet, Congratulations to everyone on completing your 1st season.😃
