I love snow! Winter is so important. Snow captures more nitrogen from the atmosphere than rain then releases it slowly into the soil as it melts. It is also a phenomenal insulator protecting the ground and plants from the frigid temperatures. And if you don't find joy in the snow you won't have less snow, you will have less joy. Let it snow!

Fun Farm Fact: Ever hear the saying, "A good winter with snow makes all the plants grow?" Nitrogen attaches to❄️as the snow falls through the atmosphere. Nitrogen is slowly released into the soil as the snow melts, providing a gentle fertilizer boost for plants.

Hey everyone! I’ve had a change of schedule. I had planned to be at Christmas in the Village in Grantsville. But is just going to be too cold for me to set up outside. I am really sad to miss such a fun event. Instead I will be welcoming visitors to my studio, near Bittinger, this Saturday, next Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

Who’s ready to deck the halls? Stay tuned for this weekends open studio hours.

I am smitten. Marigolds were never a flower that called to me. Small plants with round pompom flowers. A little too tidy. I grow them because they help to deter some garden pests. Planed early in the year they go wild. Hearty lush greens abundant and blooms that don’t stop, they are undeterred by early frost. And that color…..I find myself surprisingly smitten.
