Shoutout to every climber, ground crew member, and arborist in the tree care industry - the work is hard, the trees are tall, and the love for what we do runs deep. Grateful for this crew and everyone else out there! 💚

Had to share this one - our climber about 80 feet up a loblolly pine out here in Hatteras Island, taking it down section by section. Not a job you see every day!

From overgrown to open. This historic Avon property got some much-needed love - pruned back off the house, thinned out for better airflow and light, and cleared away from the shed and walkways. Small changes, big difference.

Fun fact: the "century" in century plant is a myth. Agave americana usually blooms once - after 10 to 25 years, not 100 - sending up a flower stalk that can hit 20+ feet almost overnight, then dies.

Here's the wild part: that stalk usually falls over before it's done. It's not damage, it's strategy - the plant tips itself to scatter seeds a short distance away. It's also one of the few plants that reproduces both by seed and by "pups" at the base.

It's not native to OBX, but the biology checks out anyway - thick water-storing leaves, roots built to grab rain fast, and a habit of conserving moisture that most plants can't touch. And no, it's not the tequila plant - that's a different agave entirely.

Planning to add one to your yard? Keep it at least 10 feet from power lines - you'll be glad you did when that stalk finally shoots skyward.

Swipe through for the full spotlight, including why this spiky succulent has been essential to life in Mexico for centuries.

Before: overgrown and closed in. After: open, clean, and easy to maintain. Another Frisco job in the books!

One year ago today, Altura Tree became ours.

Neither of us set out to run a tree company on Hatteras Island. We landed here on a whim, met the right people at the right time, and said yes when the opportunity showed up. A year later, that leap has turned into something real: a crew we trust, a growing list of neighbors who trust us back, and over 250 jobs across the villages that we're proud of.

None of this happens without the people who handed us the keys and the community that gave us a chance to earn your business. We're grateful every single day.

Next up: giving back to the canopy that gives us a living. We're rolling out a Live Oak Sapling Service this year — free plantings for Hatteras Island residents, a limited number each month. Stick around for how to get one.

TRI VILLAGES - WAVES, SALVO, RODANTHE

The boys are up in Tri-Villages today and have a full load of mulch in tow, approximately 15 cubic yards. If you'd like it dumped in your soggy yard, give us a call at 252-995-2965 for details. Don't want to move it all yourself? We offer installation for a reasonable price.

For reference, this is equivalent to over 130 bags of mulch from the hardware store... our mulch is all-natural, local, and often times, mosquito repellant. Today, its a mix of cedar and pine. Any leaves in the mix break down quickly and make a great addition to your sandy soil.

Did you know cedar mulch can help keep mosquitoes at bay?

Trimmed up two overgrown junipers in Waves, NC - took them from wild hedge to sculpted, healthy trees. Proper pruning like this opens up airflow, reduces storm damage risk, and lets these coastal trees thrive for years to come.
