A beautifully designed room is never just about the furnishings. It’s the layering of accessories that creates warmth, refinement, balance, and soul. The finishing details are what transform a space from simply furnished to truly elevated. ✨

Here are 3 styling principles we use regularly at IBB:

1) ✨Permanent botanicals bring life, softness & movement.A room should always feel alive. Permanent florals and greenery introduce an organic element that softens hard surfaces, adds texture, and creates a sense of effortless elegance year-round. Whether it’s orchids, olive branches, or sculptural greenery, botanicals instantly make a space feel more polished and inviting.

2) ✨Proper lamp scale changes the entire feel of a room.We typically recommend lamps that are 30” tall or taller. Taller lamps help extend the eye upward, creating better visual balance and giving a room a more sophisticated sense of scale. Lamps that are too short can unintentionally make a space feel visually heavy or compressed.

3) ✨Generously scaled pillows create a more luxurious look.Undersized pillows are one of the quickest ways to diminish the overall feel of a room. We often use 22” pillows on sofas and accent chairs because they create fullness, softness, and a more tailored, designer-level finish.

What started as a solo interior design business for my mom has grown into something beyond anything we could have ever imagined.

Twenty-six years ago, I joined her professionally, and together we’ve spent decades building, evolving, creating, and dreaming alongside an incredible team. After my dad passed, my husband stepped in to help oversee the business and operations side of IBB, bringing structure and strategy to the creative vision that drives our company forward every day. And now, watching Jaylie step into the world of interior design and become part of the next generation makes it all even more meaningful.

And through it all, one thing has never changed — we’ve always wanted IBB to feel personal.

Not corporate. Not transactional. Personal.

Family has always been at the heart of how we operate — not just within our own family, but within the culture of our company. Our team is family to us. And so are our clients. Many of the relationships we’ve built over the years extend far beyond design projects. We’ve celebrated milestones together, walked through seasons of life together, and had the honor of helping create homes that become the backdrop for our clients’ most meaningful memories.
