We recently finished repairs on some fire related damage at Ole Gin Steakhouse. They received instructions on what they needed to do to pass inspection and meet code. They let us know what needed to be done and asked if we could give them a quote. After waiting for things to get approved for what needed to be done to at least meet those requirements, the owners needed us to get there and make repairs as quickly as possible to prevent further damage from all the rain we’ve had recently. I had previously told them we would repair it as soon as they gave us the go ahead, so that’s what we did.

•Installed metal siding where there was no metal
•Replaced metal roof where the metal had burned and was irreparable
•Installed 4 ft. awning over grill
•Repaired hood vent over grill
•Caulked flashing w/ “Through the Roof”
•Installed 5/8”x4’x12’ fire rated drywall on ceiling into metal purlin framing using corrosion-resistant, self-tapping steel screws
•”Great Stuff” Fireblock insulated foam sealant with code recognizable orange color to seal gaps
•Repaired the front right side of restaurant where the purlins were left hanging with no corner protection from water by cutting purlins flush with building and installing corner/rake trim and caulked flashing with “Through the Roof”

We worked straight through adverse weather conditions, that most anyone else would’ve used as an excuse to go home and do the job later, so that we could get the repairs finished in a timely manner and mitigate any water damage to the restaurant. We don’t just say we can do it, we go to work and get the job done. We got them up to code, grill venting properly, everything done as asked of us, and the roof leak free.

We had the pleasure of building this front porch project after a quick conversation with the homeowners. They asked when we could start and my answer was “tomorrow”. So long story short, 24 hours later we pulled onto their property with a trailer load of wood and started. After waiting over 4 months for someone to at least come give an estimate, we had their front porch done in 4 days.

Front porch consists of:
•6x6 posts
•2x10 floor joists w/ joist hangers on all
•5/4” decking
•Extended gabled roof w/ lathed rafters prepped for metal roof
•Facial boards installed and ready
•4ft front steps on 6 step stringers
•Handrails consisting of “Hog Wild” black powder-coated mesh railing
•4x6 ornamental decoration on front gable featuring “Simpson Strong-Outdoor Accent” black powder-coated gable decorations

I must say we were impressed with how well the “hog wire” turned out and it also tied in well with the Simpson Strong front gable decorations. We will install metal roof and vinyl soffit next…..so more pictures to come on this project.

The owner asked if we could take a look at a water leak and replace the floors in her laundry room, and also see if there was anything else we thought needed to be done. When we removed the subfloor we found irreparable water damage to all but 1 of the floor joists and extensive water damage to one of the outer bands. She asked if we would be able to fix it and turn her plumbing into PEX, and put some linoleum back down for her when we were done, so here’s what we did:

•Removed all damaged trim, floor, subfloor, joists, nails, pipe, etc
•Cleaned the crawlspace, removing all damaged/wet wood, trash, etc.. and mitigated all existing moisture remaining
•Replaced all but one of the floor joists and added joist hangers to all
•Replaced the outer band that had water damage
•Installed Advantech X-Factor Subfloor system with added water shedding barrier and combined that w/ subfloor glue for a squeak-free and extremely water resistant finish
•Converted the CPVC plumbing to washer and water heater into 3/4 in. PEX
•Installed 22 mil, water proof LVP
•Gave the floor a nice finished look with some white 1x4 base
•Moved the washer, dryer, and water heater inside
•Plumbed the water heater, connected the washer, and made sure everything was working as it should
•Cleaned and disposed of all trash/debris from project

It took a lot of work, but we brought our lunch pails with us each day and got to it and turned something that seemed bleak into something to be proud of for the owner.

*Side note: this house was so old, the logs it was rolled in on were still under the house and the 2x10 joists that were water damaged were actual 2 1/4x10 instead of your typical 2x10’s that are actual 1 1/2x9 1/2 now.

We finished this bathroom remodel for a wonderful family looking to remove their shower and add a tub/shower combo in its place. They also sent a picture they wanted their bathroom to look like and asked if we could do it.

Picture 2: Idea/Inspo
Picture 3,4,5: After

I’d say we brought their idea to life! For the tub/shower combo, we built a platform to have plenty of room to run the drainage system into the existing drain, since the shower was on a concrete pad and they didn’t want to cut into it. To better help with entrance and ability to more easily give their children a bath, we added a step/decorative platform for them and they loved it. The design gave it a nice little touch. Matte Black Delta hardware/ fixtures were added to the tub/shower and plumbing was converted from cpvc to pex. We also added an access panel for them to easily get to new plumbing that was added to the tub/shower.

The homeowners wanted a deck big enough for their 4 boys to be able to jump in the pool, while also being able to relax by it comfortably together as a family. We sent them a quote Thursday night. They accepted the quote and asked when we could start. We picked the material up at 8am Friday morning , started at 10am, worked til dark, and wrapped it up Saturday morning. The homeowners were such a joy to work with and made the entire process as smooth as 3 day old butter.

Owner had an idea to build a lean-to that would help better preserve the boat dock from rain/weather, but also leave enough space between the posts to be able to cast from underneath it. Asked if we thought we could make it happen using…….

•Scrap Wood ✅
•Scrap Tin ✅
•Buy Posts (only thing he didn’t have stored in a big shed for 27 years) ✅
•Random Screws ✅
•Etc….. (you get the point…..) ✅

Of course. I’d hate to think we couldn’t!
We built a load bearing beam to withstand the 10-12 ft. spans. Added joist hangers on all rafters for extra strength to better withstand those north winds off the water. Lathed the rafters with 1x4s and 1x6s on top run. Decorated the posts with some scrap 4x6 kickers and made his idea even better than he imagined! And check out those beautiful sunsets we were blessed with both nights we wrapped up. Also, shout out to the best saw-man in the country, my dad, in the last picture. Been a blessing to be able to work side by side with him. Good man. Time well spent.

Question: Do you think you could take some old roof tin and flip it upside down and turn it into a ceiling for us?

Answer: I’d hate to think we couldn’t!

……..we also built a little storage area for floats, etc. to clean up a walkway and upgraded some lights to brighten the place up as well. It was definitely not an easy job having to cut around beams and trim some J channel over the roll-up doors, but it turned out really nice and I believe it added a little flare to this boat house.

What a beautiful day to install a metal roof for a wonderful homeowner who was having problems with leaks in the roof of their home. They were a pleasure to work for and glad they love their new roof. We prepped the home with lathing and finished it off with new pipe boots/vent pipe and ridge cap with closures. We fought with some red wasps and yellow jackets and got it done! 💪🏽

🗣️ Special shoutout to Monte Christenberry at Pro Tube Steel in Rainsville for opening up on a Saturday morning and rolling the metal out the door for us. Easy to work with and competitive pricing. Much appreciated sir! Highly recommend!

We had the opportunity to revamp the exterior of Lighthouse Baptist Church. We replaced vinyl siding that was damaged and rebuilt some stairs and a stair/ramp combo, with a little decoration added into the handrails. What a blessing to be able to give back to a church that’s given so much to me and my family.
