Myth: insulation is mostly a summer thing, something that helps the AC keep up.
Insulation works in both directions. The same barrier that keeps hot attic air from pushing into your living space in July is what keeps your heat from escaping through the roof in January.
What that means year round:
- A hot upstairs in summer and cold bedrooms in winter are often caused by the same gaps
- Underperforming insulation doesn't take a season off, it just shows up differently depending on the weather
- The best time to fix it is before the season it's failing in actually arrives
If your home has felt off at any point this year, it's worth a second look now, before the heating season makes it obvious again.
