Your deck might look fine from the top…

But the scary stuff usually hides underneath.

NADRA says there are more than 60 million decks in the U.S. — and estimates about 30 million are past their useful life and need repair or replacement.

That means a lot of homeowners are trusting old framing, old fasteners, old posts, old stairs, and weather-beaten ledger boards every time the family heads outside.

Before you pack the deck with people, patio furniture, a grill, coolers, and kids running around — check the structure.

Loose railing?
Soft boards?
Stairs that wiggle?
Rusty brackets or fasteners?
Cracked posts?
Sagging framing?
Gaps where the deck connects to the house?

Helpful homeowner tip:

Before you run another load of laundry, take 30 seconds and check your dryer vent from outside.

Turn the dryer on.
Walk outside.
Watch the vent flap.
Feel for strong airflow.

If the flap barely opens, the airflow feels weak, or lint is building up around the vent, your dryer may not be exhausting properly.

That can lead to longer dry times, wasted energy, extra wear on the dryer, and a fire risk that is easy to overlook.

Check the outside vent.
Clean the lint trap every load.
Look behind the dryer for a crushed or restricted vent hose.

Small check. Big prevention.

Clogged gutters, short downspouts, bad grading, and water pooling next to the house may not look like a big deal at first.

But over time? That water can start showing up as damp basement corners, musty smells, washed-out landscaping, peeling paint, rot, and bigger repair problems.

Quick homeowner check:

Clean the gutters.
Extend the downspouts.
Watch where the water goes during rain.
Make sure the ground slopes away from the house.
Check inside after heavy rain for damp spots, stains, or musty smells.

One small section of a MUCH bigger Oak Run transformation… 👀🔥

This custom fireplace wall completely changed the feel of the space:

• Custom-built Hickory mantle
• Clean built-in finish throughout

And we’re honestly just getting started on this house.

This Oak Run project is going to be one of those transformations people remember. 👀🔥

What started as a painted brick fireplace is becoming a fully custom centerpiece built specifically for this family and this home.

This phase included:
• Custom entertainment wall
• Modern linear fireplace
• Full shiplap surround
• Custom-built Hickory mantle
• Clean built-in TV setup
• Warm modern finish that completely changes the feel of the room

That Hickory mantle is the kind of detail that pictures honestly don’t fully capture. The natural grain, warmth, and character against the clean white finish turned this entire wall into a focal point that completely changes the space.

And the wild part?

This is just ONE small section of a much larger remodel happening inside this house right now.

There’s a LOT more coming on this project:

👀 More spaces that won’t even feel like the same home when we’re done
