Just like the little robins that nested in our salvia flats this year, it’s time for this little one to spread her wings and fly. Mia has been with us since she was 15. She watered and tended our flowers with grace and tenderness. Now she is flying west to the mountains to attend the University of Colorado. All us old gardeners here watch her with pride as she soars into life’s journey.

Some of us gardeners tend to have a dark side to us. We are the ones who cultivate poisonous plants, buy anything with a black bloom and smile when we see a carnivorous plant eat a bug. If you are that gardener, these plants are for you! The trick to growing these is special soil and rain or distilled water. Just lay a banana peel or some fruit near them to attrack bugs and enjoy the carnage!
