According to the National Weather Service, we’re looking at multiple rounds of heavy rainfall across the Houston/Galveston region starting Tuesday evening and potentially continuing through the weekend.

Now’s the time to:

Pool turning green even though your system says it’s running?
There’s a good chance your salt cell isn’t actually producing chlorine.

This Hayward TurboCell looked “fine” at first glance, but diagnostics told a different story.

One of the biggest issues we see around League City, Dickinson, Friendswood, Santa Fe, and surrounding areas is homeowners getting stuck between:
• Pool builders
• Warranty companies
• Service providers
• Manufacturers

…and nobody taking ownership of the problem.

⚠️ Can You Spot the Failure?

This customer called us out after their salt system stopped producing chlorine properly. They had been supplementing with tabs and shock just to keep the pool balanced.

After a full diagnostic, we found severe scaling and internal failure within the salt cell that created excessive heat load on the system. Over time, that heat damaged and melted the connector at the main board.

What made this situation even more interesting:
This wasn’t the first failure. A previously burned adapter had already failed and been removed, further contributing to the damage and repairs needed to restore the system.

In this case, improper water chemistry and calcium buildup forced the salt system to work harder than intended, eventually leading to component failure.

Final repair scope included:
• New main board
• Proper connector replacement
• New salt cell

Salt systems usually give warning signs before complete failure. If your pool is suddenly needing extra chlorine, frequent shocking, or constant salt cell cleaning, your system may already be telling you something is wrong.

Routine water balance and inspections can prevent expensive repairs like this before they happen.

Heater not working? Throwing a code and Google not helping?

This one came in as a “bad air switch.”
Ended up being a failed control board instead.

Diagnosed it properly, swapped in a new board, and had them back up and running within 24 hours.

Hot tub back. Problem solved.

Most of the time, it’s not what it looks like on the surface. Guessing costs time and money. Proper diagnosis gets it fixed right the first time.
