Just wanted to make our customers and other contractors aware of a current scam going around. The contractor gets a text that someone needs work done in their home. The text says that they don’t live here (either live downstate, landlord, etc- not unusual in our area) so they want to pay electronically.
Then the scam kicks in- they want to pay in advance, and want your banking information.
You ask for the address and they aren’t comfortable giving it out until you are on the way. They “just want to make sure you get paid” so they press for your banking info.

This post is twofold: making our customers aware, as we welcome your texts, we just might ask an extra question or two to verify you are authentic.
Secondly, making other local contractors aware so they don’t get caught up in the scam.
