Small safes like these offer decent fire protection, but little for security. Unfortunately, they are also prone to a specific type of failure that can leave the owner locked out. (We’ve seen a bit of a run on them lately!). If you happen to own one of these, monitor it closely, and stop using it if it gives any indication of trouble.

The good news is: they can usually be easily opened. The bad news is: they aren’t really worth repairing.

Plastic gears and die cast bolts are not renowned for their durability 😉
