Here come the posts about outrageous electric bills and “not knowing why.” One big reason we see every year is people switching their heat pumps to Emergency Heat when it’s cold or bad weather.

Emergency Heat is straight electric heat and costs 2–3× more to run. It’s meant for when the heat pump isn’t working — not for cold temps, snow, or ice.

If your system is working properly, leave it on HEAT and let it do its job.
